Good observation. I think the film would've been much better if they kept all the flashback stuff and jettisoned all the stuff set in the present. The flashback stuff was so funny and interesting, esp. the rivalry between Spacey and Clooney. I would've liked to have seen more of that.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08164105442273577128noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30487573.post-42286847113067760942010-03-26T18:32:50.858-05:002010-03-26T18:32:50.858-05:00I like McGregor, but I found it hard to look into ...I like McGregor, but I found it hard to look into his character at all, too distracted by his awful accent. This is a nice write-up though.Simonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08085105568601878075noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30487573.post-56391691951948885722010-03-26T15:51:12.111-05:002010-03-26T15:51:12.111-05:00Thanks, J.D., for bringing up that hilarious dance...Thanks, J.D., for bringing up that hilarious dance. Not only is it as great as you say, but it's also touching, in the kind of connect Jeff Bridges and Clooney have beforehand "Someone told you not to" - if the movie was all like that, it would have been awesome, instead we get this pointless flashback structure with the McGregor character, which prevents any kind of genuine insight or connection to what's being depicted. I imagine this film as being an instant classic in the hands of, say, the Coen Brothers or Paul Thomas Anderson. But as it is, it's Nora Ephron directing Apocalypse Now.Erich Kuerstenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02850572368098319317noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30487573.post-35864322355824763932010-03-26T15:37:42.635-05:002010-03-26T15:37:42.635-05:00I guess I liked this film more than you did. I almost did a spittake and damn near choked to death when that scene came on. Funny stuff.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08164105442273577128noreply@blogger.com
