Bright Lights Film Journal #68 online w/ Twilight - Plus Night Nurse!

Bright Lights Film Journal #68 is online, featuring, in addition to a host of fine stuff, an all-new essay by mois, about TWILIGHT: NEW MOON: Someone to Fight Over Me: Feminism, S/M, and the Daemonic in Twilight

And if subversion of the dubious morality enforced by a stuffy bourgeoisie-elite is your thing, you know that pre-code is the place to look, and when it comes to pre-code, there's no gutsier poet auteur than William Wellman, and of Wellman's vast oeuvre, none so daemonic, two-fisted, sexy and brilliant than NIGHT NURSE (1933), which the two-fisted, sexy, brilliant and daemonic Kim Morgan presented recently at an Austin film festival: Provocative Pre-Code Peach: Night Nurse.
Meanwhile, it's Monday, and there's around 800% humidity, and I love air conditioning more than life itself.

And the Big Parade has a nice float coming by on Wellman, and the Mummers are due any minute.
